While we in Japan may not often see it, many people worldwide, particularly in developing countries, need support in areas such as medical care, education, poverty alleviation, and regional development. Even in Japan, people affected by frequent natural disasters, like the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, require assistance.
The everyday life we take for granted should be available to everyone equally. The first step for us in Japan is to recognize what is happening around the world.
WE, the Salvation Army, are a Christian (Protestant) organization originating in the United Kingdom. We engage in evangelism while providing social welfare, education, medical care, and other services to those suffering from problems around the world and seeking help.
The Salvation Army is a military-style organization, as its name suggests, and members wear uniforms, caps, and rank badges. This may seem unusual in modern Japan, but military formations facilitate smooth support, and uniforms make the Salvation Army instantly recognizable anywhere in the world.
We, the Salvation Army, exist for those who are in need of salvation.
